Tōkhiu Books is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of comics as an art form. We champion works that not only expand the creative possibilities of the medium but also engage critically with theories in visual culture.
With an inclusive and forward-thinking approach, we collaborate with authors from diverse national and cultural backgrounds—such as Kuchixo, Komatsu Shinya, Silki, and Anna Haifisch—whose works exemplify the poetic, provocative, and formally innovative potential of comics.
We are particularly interested in the unique material language of the comics medium—especially the use of page layout as an aesthetic structure in its own right. Through this lens, we aim to foster a deeper, more nuanced understanding of comics, particularly within the Sinophone world.
