Calymmian' casts a reflective gaze upon the Hong Kong of 2014 to 2022. The narrator's rebellion and reconciliation with his Christian upbringing, his restlessness and ambivalence at the heart of gay male culture, the vulnerability and pain of his being in love, all of these taken together allude toward the ominous future of the city in which he lives and suffers.
