“Stars Through the Soul” was mainly created during the period from 1998 to 1999.  At the turn of the century, this book vividly presents the Taiwanese spirit of drifting souls of the time. Based on “strolling” and “drifting”, two typical characters in the society of immigration, and combine Ulysses image as the inner tone, the poems showed the life of common people. For example, Dihua Street, minced pork rice and paddy field are such symbols we can find in the work. This old-kind strong love is the way the author manipulated to say good-bye to the 20th century. 

Yang Tu 

Yang Tu is a poet, essayist, and novelist who has also edited literary magazines and served as deputy editor-in-chief of the China Times. Deeply engaged in public affairs, he witnessed Taiwan’s social transformation in the 1980s, later documented in The Coming Storm: Taiwan’s Transformation in the 1980s. He also reported on the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, an experience that led to The Unburned Books, winner of the First Prize of the 34th Liang Shih-chiu Literary Award for Prose. His novel Nine Days and Nine Nights was selected for Books from Taiwan.
