The day before his retirement, my dad disappeared on his way home. Where did he go? He wasn’t in the garden, at the pond, or at the factory. Maybe he became the sea, accompanying me from another world.
All pages use pouch binding: my image appears on the front, his on the back, faintly visible through the paper. Each page shows two worlds—the living and the dead—and as readers turn the pages, they move between them.and the book’s structure becomes part of the story itself.

SUWEI

Shu-Wei Chang, also called SUWEI, a graphic designer and book editor based in Taipei, Taiwan. Work in picture books and artists’ books since 2019. Focus on exploring the possibilities of narrative in the structure of the book, and the time/space created by binding of books, materials of book, page turning…etc.
